Description

The heart must be protected! But often people realize it too late, when there is ischemia accompanied by angina, various forms of hypertension, etc. Then nothing remains except the active treatment, an integral part of which is Adalat drug. The instruction for use of the medicine clearly indicates that you are unable to take such drugs without the supervision of a physician.

Release form and composition

Adalat is available in several forms – tablets of 10 and 20 mg and two kinds of solution for parenteral infusion in bottles of 50 ml and intra-coronary infusion in syringes of 2 ml. The main ingredient is nifedipine, which also has a second name – fenigidin. Also the product contains dimethyl ether, dimethyl (acentropinae), dihydropyridine etc.

Pharmacological effect

The drug has an effect on vasodilation, such as coronary and peripheral. In addition, the drug reduces the heart muscle of oxygen. A big plus of the drug is that it does not inhibit the conduction system of the myocardium and does not have strong activity against anti-arrhythmia. It has good effect on blood pressure (reducing it), and peripheral vessels, reducing their resistance. In addition, the doctors noted the excellent absorption of Adalat and the speed of its actions – the maximum effect occurs within an hour after its reception. But there are drawbacks. The main one is the development of tolerance to medication in case of its prolonged use in therapy (for at least two months).

Dosage and way of administration

If Adalat is administered orally, then, firstly, the patient should remember that this can be done at any time without reference to food intake. Secondly, the initial dose is 10-30 mg three-four times a day. Thirdly, the maximum daily dose should not exceed 120 mg. The duration of therapy with the use of the drug lasts up to two months. In various diseases of the cardiovascular system, the dosage regimen may vary depending on the severity of the disease and the selected therapy by a physician (this can be difficult).

Indications for use

Indications for the use of Adalat are coronary heart disease (CHD), which occurs against a background of angina. In addition, the drug is used to lower blood pressure.

Drug Contraindications

Contraindications include unstable angina, acute heart failure, cardiac arrhythmia, severe myocardial infarction, severe drop in blood pressure. Adalat is prohibited during pregnancy and lactation. The drug can be taken with caution to motorists and others who need immediate response during the day.

Adverse reactions

Most of the drugs that are intended for the treatment of the cardiovascular system, have side effects. Adalat is not an exception. The instructions for use indicate the possibility of redness of the face and hands. Taking the drug can also be accompanied by migraine. In addition, it may cause sleepiness, nausea, palpitations, swelling, dizziness, hypotension. If you notice one of the above reactions to the medical product, its reception should be either stopped, or the daily dose should be greatly reduced.
