Description

There’s nothing worse than when a heart starts malfunctioning. Hypertension, ischemia, angina, and more are extremely dangerous diseases and can end in tears.  The condition of such patients can be improved by Bystolic. The instruction for use of this medication indicates its specificity, and this is due to quite an extensive list of contraindications.

Release form and composition

Bystolic is released in the form of pill. It is a cardioselective beta1-blocker, which received its name from the active substance of nebivolol hydrochloride, micronized. As the auxiliary structure it uses lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, sodium croscarmellose, corn starch, polysorbate, hypromellose, silica colloidal anhydrous, etc.

Pharmacological action

Bystolic is a serious drug and has, in the first place, antianginal, antihypertensive, and antiarrhythmic action. While taking it decreases blood pressure. It may happen during rest, stress and physical tension. The drug blocks the β1-adrenoceptor, in addition, it has a positive effect on blood vessels, gently expanding them. In the case of regular reception, a man can achieve sustained hypotensive effect in two weeks. Stable state, causing no suspicion, is achieved in two months. In addition, the drug reduces the need of cardiac muscle in oxygen, thus reduces the number of angina attacks, and they are not so heavy. Another useful property of the medicine is that its reception increases the threshold of tolerance of physical activity.

Dosage

Specialists pay patients’ attention to the fact that they need to strictly comply with the conditions of taking the pills. Usually the admission takes place once a day, so you need to do it at the same time. There is no reference to the diet. The average daily dose during ischemia is 2.5-5 mg, which corresponds to the whole pill and a half. The maximum dose is 10 mg.

Overdose

Overdose of the drug is dangerous because it can cause a sharp drop in blood pressure. In this case, a person will experience nausea and may start vomiting. If time does not react to the effects of an overdose, the consequences can be fatal sinus bradycardia, cyanosis, loss of consciousness, bronchospasm, cardiogenic shock, coma, cardiac arrest. In the early stages of overdose, doctors prescribe urgent gastric lavage and the consumption of large amounts of activated charcoal, absorbing the remnants of medications, and output them from the body.

Indications for use

The drug has a targeted effect, so there are not many indications for its application. Most often it is prescribed for hypertension and ischemic heart disease. But it also serves as a prophylaxis against attacks of angina. It is used in complex therapy together with other drugs in case of the diagnosis of chronic heart failure.
