The drug description

Diclofenac is a well – known anti-inflammatory drug, which acts in several directions. First of all, the drug reduces the amount of prostaglandins in the focus of inflammation, making the pain go away. In addition, the drug actively relieves inflammation, eliminates swelling and swelling in the inflamed joint. Eventually the pain goes away, and returns joint mobility.

Who is prescribed with this drug?

Diclofenac is used to combat the following ailments:

inflammatory diseases of the musculoskeletal system (rheumatic lesions, including rheumatoid arthritis and spondylitis, low back pain and bursitis, sciatica and lumbago);

inflammation in the pelvis (adnexitis);

lesions of soft tissues, muscles, tendons and ligaments;

otitis media and pharyngitis, tonsillitis and other sinusitis.

The dosage regimen

Ointment gel and Diclofenac are given to persons older than 12 years. They must be applied on the affected joint or area of the skin 2-3 times day and massaged in gently. After applying, be sure to wash your hands! If a 2-week therapy has not given result, you need to consult with your doctor.

Diclofenac tablets are prescribed for adults and children over 15 years. From the first days the medication must be taken at the dosage of 1-2 pills 2-3 times a day, and in the case of improving the state you should change the dose to 2 times a day.

Drug contraindications

  1. Tablets and suppositories (inflammation of the intestine, stomach bleeding, presence of asthma, kidney and liver failure, heart failure, and also children’s age: 6 years, for candles – 14 years).
  2. The solution (under 15 years of age, with erosive lesions of the stomach, intolerance of ingredients, breastfeeding and pregnancy).
  3. Eye drops (hypersensitivity, age to 5 years).
  4. Gel and ointment (intolerance to the drug). The drug should be taken with caution by pregnant women and the elderly, those with liver, kidney and bleeding disorders.

Side effects

The drug may be accompanied by various side effects. They usually arise in the case of the introduction of the solution, taking the pills or suppositories. These are such conditions as headache, sleep disturbance, dyspeptic symptoms, cough and bronchospasm, tinnitus and blurred vision. The reception of ointment gel and Diclofenac may be accompanied by redness, swelling, and rash or development of dermatitis.
