Meridia is used as part of complex therapy as an additional means to reduce body weight in the following cases:
With alimentary obesity in patients with a BMI (body mass index) of 30 kg / m² and above;

The dose is determined individually and depends on the clinical efficacy and tolerability of the drug. The initial dose of Meridia can be 10 mg / day, the drug should be taken daily. In patients who respond poorly to the use of this dose of Meridia, in case of good tolerability of this drug, the daily dose may be increased to 15 mg. In patients who respond poorly to the use of the drug at a dose of 15 mg / day (in the first 4 weeks the weight decreases by less than 2 kg), further use of this drug should be discontinued. The drug Meridia is contraindicated under the following conditions:
Organic causes of obesity (eg, hypothyroidism);
Mental disorders (including Tourette’s syndrome, bulimia nervosa);
Simultaneous use of MAO inhibitors, as well as their administration within 2 weeks before or 2 weeks after the appointment of Meridia;
Taking medications that affect the central nervous system and cause inhibition of reuptake of serotonin (eg, antipsychotics, antidepressants), use of hypnotics containing tryptophan, as well as other drugs for the treatment of mental disorders or central aids to reduce body weight;
Decompensated chronic heart failure, IHD, tachycardia, arrhythmia;
Transient impairment of cerebral circulation, stroke and other cerebrovascular pathologies;
Benign prostatic hyperplasia;
Severe impairment of kidney and / or liver function;
Uncontrolled arterial hypertension;
Established drug, alcohol or drug dependence;
Closed coal glaucoma;
The period of breastfeeding;
Age over 65 years and under 18;
Hypersensitivity to the components of this drug.
With caution, the drug Meridia is used for arterial hypertension, seizures, chronic circulatory insufficiency, epilepsy, cholelithiasis, renal and / or liver dysfunctions of mild to moderate severity, blood clotting disorders, glaucoma, verbal and motor tics (including in anamnesis).
Interaction with other medicines and alcohol:
Simultaneous application of Meridia with MAO inhibitors is contraindicated.
