There drug contains such chemicals as serotonin and norepinephrine, which are directly impacted by the intake of drugs containing nortriptyline, including Pamelor. Adverse effects

Dosage

Don’t change the dosage on your own, as an overdose or improper use of the medication may cause serious health implications. You must start the treatment with the small dose (25mg 1-2 times a day), and then gradually increase it. If you take more that 100 mg of the drug day, it must be controlled. It is advisable to take Pamelor at the same time every day to achieve maximum effect. The pill should be taken during the meal to avoid stomach upset. Skipped doses reduce the efficiency of the medication. Therefore, you must take the missed pill as soon as possible. However, you should never take double dose. Avoid changing the dose or ending the treatment with Pamelor without the doctor’s approval, as it can reduce the effect of the medication and even become fatal.

Drug interactions

Pamelor interacts negatively with numerous medications. You should inform your doctor about all the medications you’re using so that he/she can prescribe the right dosage and minimize the possibility of adverse effects. Alcohol increases the adverse effects of Nortriptyline.

Antispasmodics, arrhythmia medications, barbiturates, monoamine oxidase inhibitors, antipsychotics, vasopressor agents, drugs for thyroid disorders, selective serotonine reuptake inhibitors can interact with Pamelor. Consult your physician if you’re taking any of the above-mentioned drugs.
