Description

Valtrex is an antiviral drug, produced in the form of biconvex, elongated white tablets coated with a coating. On one side of the blue ink there is an inscription “VALTREX 500”. The active substance is valaciclovir hydrochloride, it contains 556 mg in one tablet. This substance, after entering the human body, under the influence of valaciclovir hydrolase, is converted into acyclovir. That’s what it does to the virus.

The maximum concentration of the treating substance is observed 1-2 hours after oral administration of the tablet. At the same time the process of taking the medicine does not depend on meals.

After 3 hours, patients with normal renal function will begin to decrease the level of acyclovir. Valtrex is excreted through the urine, almost unchanged. If there are any deviations, then this time increases. So in patients with renal insufficiency, the withdrawal time will be about 14 hours.
