Drug description

Vasodilan is a medication, which belongs to the group of drugs called vasodilators. This drug is used to relax veins and arteries by making them wider and allowing more blood to pass through them without having to work so actively.

It has a few benefits, for example: helping to treat such diseases as cerebral vascular disease (low blood supply to the brain), arteriosclerosis (which is a thickening of the walls of arteries), and Raynaud’s disease. These disorders aggravate the blood flow in the veins and the arteries.

There are other purposes for the use of Vasodilan, but the Food and Drug Administration didn’t approve this drug for these purposes.

Possible adverse effects

Allergic reactions (hives, breathing difficulty, throat tightness, face swelling).

You should stop using this drug if you note that you have rash during the treatment.

Additional adverse effects
Breast pain or an increased heart rate (inform your doctor if they get worse)
Sickness / vomiting
Vertigo or fatigue

If you take this drug for the first time, the risk of having an adverse effect is very high. The mild adverse effects like head pain and dryness in mouth are tolerable and usually go away on their own. More severe adverse effects usually occur when the patient is doing something that may enhance the risk (for example, drinking alcohol, using drugs or even eating a lot of fat food).

Anyway, you should make sure you watch out for how often certain adverse effects happen and how severe they are. Any adverse effects must decrease in severity in a short time. If they persist or get worse, the best thing you can do is to stop using the drug and inform your doctor about it.

How do you know this medicine is suitable for you?

Vasodilan is very efficient and has passed many tests to ensure it performs its function. If your physician prescribes it to you, you may rest assured it’s going to work unless you have some other major disease that’s interfering with it. In some cases, your doctor will have to do some tests to define whether this is the case or if it would be a problem well before prescribing you this drug.

Precautions

Avoid taking Vasodilan if you’re allergic to Isoxsuprine or any other component of this medication.

Be cautious while taking Vasodilan during pregnancy, lactating or planning a pregnancy. Consult your doctor in advance.

This drug may not be completely safe for patients suffering from the following diseases: bleeding diseases, cardiovascular disease or heart attack in history, glaucoma, excessive bleeding or recent physical trauma such as delivery. Consult a doctor about safety.
