  Le rôle des gouvernements locaux reconnu par le projet de texte de négociation du Sommet de Copenhague sur le changement climatique
Résultat des réunions de Bonn, du 1er au 12 juin, le texte, base des négociations devant aboutir au Sommet de Copenhague sur le changement climatique, confirme explicitement l'implication et le rôle des gouvernements locaux. Ils sont reconnusdans tous les domaines traités : coopération à long terme, adaptation, atténuation et actions de financement, technologies et renforcement institutionnel. C'est un pas en avant accueilli avec satisfaction par la Présidence et les membres de Cités et Gouvernements Locaux Unis.

  Local authorities speak during the 2nd UN session of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction
UCLG took part in the 2nd Session of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction organized by the United Nations in Geneva, from 16 to 19 June. With the support of Earthquakes and Megacities Initiative (EMI), UCLG, who represented the partners of the Urban Programme for Risk Reduction (PURR), organized a plenary session on 17 June on “Urban risks – Improving the effectiveness of local action for risk reduction and adaptation”.

  World agreement on climate: Local governments present their call
On 2 June 2009, in Copenhagen, Denmark: the 150 mayors, elected officials and local and regional government representatives, present for the Executive Bureau of UCLG, agree on a united call of cities and regions to the Parties which will negotiate, in Copenhagen, in December, a new global agreement on climate. They presented precise and concrete amendments to the text currently under negotiation in the framework of the COP 15 of the United Nations.

  Climate Change : Cities and Local Government make a difference NOW!
Local representatives from all over the world will attend the Local Government Climate Change Leadership Summit in Copenhagen, on 2-4 June 2009. The Danish capital city will host the largest world event on the local dimension of climate change. Cities, towns, local and regional governments will unite their voice before the international community and the United Nations member states.

  CEMR General Assembly in Malmo: Local and regional authorities working for a stronger, more united Europe in the face of global challenges.
On the occasion of the General Assembly of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions; the European section of United Cities and Local Governments, over 1000 representatives of local and regional authorities, national ministries, civil society and the private sector met in Malmö, Sweden, for three days of dialogue and debate, from 22 to 25 April.
